I love the word Garrison.
It has become my new found favourite word because I now understand it more after staying in an Army barracks and watching the soldiers on duty for some months.
Garrison is a military term that is used to describe a fortified military post where troops are stationed.
Did you notice the word “Fortified?”
Though there are soldiers everywhere in the barracks, there is a particular place called The Garrison. It is never left devoid of military personnels on duty. They are not just standing around or sleeping; they are alert and on guard.
It is “Fortified” hence there MUST always be soldiers there every second of the day. I love to watch the soldiers pace up and down with their guns around that area. They are mounted as guards!
This is how the peace of God watches over us. It is always on duty in our hearts.
As we wrap up this year, I am guessing that not all your prayers have been answered and not all your plans came to fruition. There may still be some unsettled issues in your life and you are wondering why God is taking so long.
You have probably made your requests known to God and you are waiting for the answers.
Guess what? God did not leave you unguarded.
The very first answer to your prayer is His Peace.
Sometimes before He gives us what we have asked for, He gives us his peace to make us content in just having Him.
This is what makes us different from the world. While men are fretting and running up and down, we have Peace on duty in our hearts like soldiers in a Garrison. This peace wards off any invading doubt and fear while we wait and also prepares us to receive the answers.
The peace of God is not like the one the world gives: coming and going with every news headline, neither does it rise and fall with every buzz of a credit or debit alert.
No!
It is constant, pure and consistent- that calmness of Spirit, that quiet trust in your everlasting father. Yea, It is a shield, a mighty armor, a refuge and a resting place.
Dearest friend; let your heart bask in this peace and let it spill into your family, workplace, and garrison your entire life.
I pray that “God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:7 (AMP)
Have a peaceful week!
